The Arai RX-7 has always been the benchmark in motorcycle racing R&D at the very highest level. Decades of technological innovation in unseen parts of the helmet enhance head protection to safeguard what is priceless: the rider. Head protection means managing impact energy. While many understand it to be about absorbing energy, Arai believes absorption is just one part of impact energy management. The lower the impact energy, the less needs to be absorbed. Arai achieves this by making rounder, smoother, and stronger outer shells to improve Glancing Off performance, successfully reducing the amount of impact energy transferring into the helmet. Technical Features

General & Shell Architecture

PB-SNC2 Outer Shell: Built from Peripherally Belted Structural Net Composite. Arai's proprietary Peripheral Belt (super fibre belt), borrowed from Formula 1 technology, maximizes shell strength and flexibility while maintaining a low weight. Positioned across the top of the eye port, this band allows the use of a thinner EPS liner, which greatly enhances the upward field of view—especially appreciated in a full racing tuck. The Structural Net Composite adds a physical bond to the resin bond of the many layers of fibres and reinforcing materials. The latest “Z-Mixture” resins increase material adhesion, requiring less resin for a stronger bond and a thinner, lighter shell.  

Variable Axis System (VAS): With VAS, the visor mounting position is lowered, yielding an average of an additional 24mm across both temple areas in pursuit of the ideal smoother shape that increases the ability of glancing off energy. This makes it possible for more of the shell to be smoother along and above the test line of the Snell standard.  

Advanced Ventilation System

RX-7V Evo Ventilation: The combined systems offer excellent and efficient ventilation. The top duct provides 11% more airflow, with bigger switches for effortless operating. Lowered side-air channels guide air from the cheek pad area to the side ducts, improving extraction and reducing noise. The diffuser is 20mm longer with improved aerodynamics, working together with 19% larger intake scoops and the Air Wing to improve stability. The chin cover blocks air intrusion and draws more air from the mouth area.

Free Flow System (FFS): Creates airflow under the helmet that reduces wind noise and turbulence while increasing the exhaust of hot air.

Center Top Vent (Intake): Provides 11% more airflow than the previous vent, featuring a bigger, user-friendly 3-position switch (closed, half open, and fully open) to adjust airflow and prevent water intrusion when closed.

Diffuser System: Straightened and lengthened by 20mm for improved aerodynamics. The air intake vents offer three positions (closed, half open, fully open) and improve sealing to decrease wind noise and water intrusion.

Extended Brow Vents: Fresh air enters directly into the forehead area and extends to the temple area on specific models without the need for structural holes in this critical area of the shell and impact-absorbing liner.

Three-Position Chin Vent: Helps in demisting the visor and offering fresh, cool air directly to the rider.

Exhaust Elements: Includes a neck exhaust vent to enhance hot-air extraction from the lower interior, alongside shell-integrated side exhausts that produce low pressure for better hot air extraction, reduced wind noise, and zero buffeting at speed. A small internal foam dam diminshes excessive noise without reducing performance.

Aerodynamics

Pull-Down Chin Spoiler: Helps minimize wind noise, aids with the extraction of hot air from the face area, and provides additional deflection of road debris away from the neck. Depending on the model, the chin spoiler is retractable.

Patented Air Wing® Adjustable: MotoGP tested and designed to greatly reduce drag, turbulence, and buffeting for enhanced comfort and additional top-speed. It improves stability at high speeds or when braking hard and reduces noise. Adjustable in five different angles of attack positions to suit every riding profile.

Visor Technology

VAS Max Vision Visor: Standard equipment to provide better visibility in all seasons and for all types of riding, complete with a De-Mist option.

Shield Latch System: Borrowed from Arai's F1 development, this completely modified 3D moving shield latch mechanism secures the shield firmly but operates smoothly with an intuitive, fluid, one-finger operation—even while wearing gloves.

Pinlock Insert Lens: Included in the box to effectively prevent misting and fogging of the visor under extreme wet and damp conditions. It can be cleaned and changed easily.

Premium Racing Interior

Antimicrobial Liner Material: Helps maintain neutral acidity levels close to human skin and offers antibacterial consumption. Built using a softer liner frame material for a deeper, more comfortable fit, featuring adjustable temple padding for a customized setup.

Facial Contour System (FCS): To offer an even better snug fit and enhance comfort around the lower jaw, FCS works with a foam spring support in the cheek pad that compresses and rebounds, providing necessary support without excessive pressure.

5mm Peel-Away Padding: Integrated 5mm "Peel-Away" Ear cups/Cheek pads and Temple crown pads give the option of crafting 5mm of additional interior width if needed.

Thin Centre Pad: Results in more room around the nose and mouth area, enhancing the famous Arai fit even further.

Speaker Pockets: Built-in communication system speaker pockets offer ample room for mounting intercom speakers without creating unpleasant pressure points.

Fully Replaceable Elements: The complete interior, cheek pads, chinstrap covers, and neckroll may be easily removed and cleaned using lukewarm water and mild soap. Interior parts are available in different thickness sizes for a custom fit.

Emergency Release System (ERS): Allows easier access to an injured rider. By pulling the integrated orange tabs, the cheek pads slide out cleanly to make helmet removal safer for trained medical personnel and rescuers, minimizing the risk of additional injury.

Breath Guard & Chin Curtain: The breath guard works with the dual-pivot® chin vent to direct fresh air across the shield while pushing hot breath down. The removable chin curtain accentuates the egg-shape form, blocking turbulent air intrusion from below and increasing negative pressure to enhance the FFS exhaust function.
